A romantic comedy set over three consecutive years of a fictional summer folk festival, the ‘Westival‘, set in Western Australia. Two regular festival musicians – the eccentric Theremin player Roland and the frontwoman of an Irish folk band, Keevey, meet and fall in love. As backdrop to their growing romance is the festival itself and the developing stories of its many diverse characters, from Aborigines and Afghan refugees to disabled pensioners and moody adolescents. The musical acts, caravans, new-age stalls and the returning festival goers create a humorous background to the fates of the individual characters. At the same time they also represent a microcosm of contemporary Australian society.
