Australia 1992, documentary, 58 min.
Director: Barbara Chobocky

Documentary filmmaker Barbara Chobocky returns to the life story of her mother Maria who left Czechoslovakia after the rise of the communist regime and found a new home in Australia. Through family archives, letters, and memories, she creates an intimate portrait of a woman marked by separation, the loss of her homeland, and a lifelong search for her place between two worlds. Maria is a sensitive reflection on emigrating, memory, and the bond with a homeland that a person can leave behind but never completely lose.
