The mystical story is partly played out in England in the year 1348, when the black plague broke out. A group of villagers led by a nine year old boy, blessed with prophetic visions, dig through a mine shaft and into the other side of the world and the twentieth century. They then must find the church in the boy’s dream and place a cross upon it in order to save their village. The stylized, multi-layered film highlights the need for dreamers and the healing power of them, as well as the need for spirituality and faith in the modern era. It is the work of well-known New Zealand director, screenwriter and actor Vincent Ward.
