Muriel lives with her family in a small Australian town whose only attractions are shopping malls, a marine park and Tupperware parties. She lives in a dream world of ABBA songs and bridal catalogues, waiting for a fairytale prince to come and rescue her from her tyrannical father and her bully friends. Since the prince still hasn’t come, she decides to look for him herself and sets off for the bright lights of the big city. This cult Australian comedy features the songs of ABBA along with celebrated actresses Toni Collette and Rachel Griffiths in their first major role.
